About Premakumar Fernando – Founder & CEO
Welcome to Cherry Academy Pvt Limited! I am Premakumar Fernando, a passionate educator and seasoned finance professional with over 50 years of diverse experience in both the public and private sectors of Sri Lanka. As a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (FCA) and a Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants of the United Kingdom (FCMA), I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the academy.
My professional journey spans more than 47 years of membership in esteemed accounting institutions, where I have held significant leadership roles, including Director of Finance and Head of Finance, in various organizations. Additionally, I have had the privilege of serving as a consultant for the Asian Development Bank in the water sector. My dedication to continuous learning is reflected in my educational achievements, including a Business Management Diploma from Manchester Business School, awarded through a British Council Scholarship, and a recently obtained Diploma in Taxation from a prestigious institute in Sri Lanka.
In 2008, I embraced my calling to educate by transitioning to a career in online tutoring, focusing primarily on CIMA. With over 18 years of teaching experience, I now specialize in ACCA, CIMA case studies, Sri Lankan taxation, and strategic financial management. My commitment to my students is unwavering, and I take pride in having guided over 500 CIMA-qualified accountants, many of whom have ascended to prominent roles such as CEOs and CFOs in leading multinational corporations.
Numerous students in recent examinations have achieved world prize accolades for ACCA AFM and CIMA case studies, a testament to my dedication and innovative teaching methods. As a pioneer in online education, starting my journey with Skype back in 2008, I remain devoted to providing quality education infused with passion and love for my students.
